Thanks to the Academy of International Affairs for organizing a great panel on Responsibility in Space for Sustainability on Earth to help kick off the 2024 United Nations World Space Forum. I really enjoyed serving on the panel with fellow members of my outer space affairs cohort, Adam Bower and Raúl González Muñoz, and former ESA astronaut Gerhard Thiele.

I was stoked to present and be represented on so many valuable SETI-related projects during the SETI and Society session at the 2024 meeting of the International Astronautical Congress in Italy. I am lucky to work with such excellent collaborators in the SETI community.

I had a sensational time at this year's meeting of the Society for Social and Conceptual Issues in Astrobiology in Kiruna, Sweden--complete with sightings of the aurora borealis and a trip to the Esrange Space Center.

I'm over the moon (and several other planetary bodies, solar systems, and galaxies) to announce that I have been selected to join the wonderful group at the SETI Institute's Science Advisory Board

A fun trip across the Rhine river to the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus with my fellow AIA fellows for the yearly cultural tour with board members of the Academy of International Affairs-NRW

Such a great conference on technology and labor hosted by the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia at the University of Tokyo and organized by them as well as by the Center for Science and Thought at the University of Bonn

(N.B., I can't help but specify that a detected technological signal would not necessarily be an intentional signal meant for Earth, though it could be. Figuring out the intentions (or lack thereof!) behind a given technological signal will likely be one of the big epistemological puzzles we will need to tackle if SETI practitioners successfully detect alien technology.)
